Why You NEED to Audit Your Systems This Month

Systems

Creating a workflow or a new automation can seem overwhelming. With the new year coming up soon (I know, I can’t believe we’re a month away), it’s super important to have your systems ready to roll for new clients, programs, and content.

But where do you start? What is the first step?

To start automating your workflows, start with an audit!

Yes, this task can be a little dry, but auditing the systems you have in place is like a safety net. Once you know that every piece is up to date and there are no holes in your procedure, setting up automation is easier, faster, and stress-free.

What is an audit?

An audit is a thorough examination of your system. You’ll be checking for things like…

  • How the system currently works
    • Take time to go through the current system. Get familiar with it. Take time to understand the moving pieces of it.
  • The steps of the workflow
    • List them out and put them in the correct order. This will help to quickly automate later on!
  • Up-to-date content
    • If your system has an email or email sequence, check that these have the correct dates and times, as well as a quick spell check. Also, check for links and any other copy used.
  • Necessary updates
    • Has something not been performing as well as you’d like it to? Does something need to be changed to better align with your brand? Now is the time to update it!

Trust us, it’s worth it!

We know it doesn’t sound like a super sexy task, but understanding how your current systems work is the key to setting up automations that work FOR you (not against you!).

We recommend auditing your content at least 2 times a year! Whenever you set up a new automation, if you rebrand,  or if you restructure a program, these are also great excuses to check into the workflow and make sure that things are working as smoothly as possible.

Taking a few moments today can save you hours and even DAYS in the long run. This also allows your employees (new and existing) to be able to understand your workflows better and be able to make adjustments as needed without needing your help.

When was the last time you audited your systems?
